Mets Back Mendoza Despite Poor Start

Despite the New York Mets' 10-21 start to the season, team president David Stearns confirmed they will not fire manager Carlos Mendoza.

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns made it clear on Friday that the team doesn't view their struggles as a manager problem. 'We know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more. We don't intend to make a change,' Stearns told MLB.com.

The announcement shifts focus to the players, who now must improve a season that's quickly falling apart. Mendoza is in the final guaranteed year of his three-year deal, which includes a club option for 2027. catcrossgame.com
