Drew Zundell: 3rd WV Runner to Break Four-Minute Mile

Former University High School state champion and current Syracuse Orange athlete Drew Zundell made history by becoming only the third runner from West Virginia to break the four-minute mile barrier.

At a meet in Boston, MA, the SU sophomore crossed the finish line in 3:59.04, joining rare company in West Virginia running history. Former SU coach Chris Fox, one of the other two WV runners to accomplish the feat, was on hand to witness Zundell's achievement.

'Records get broken, and it really just becomes a matter of time before you're gone,' Zundell said. 'But running sub-four makes me part of the list, and no matter who else comes or who does it next, I will always be on it.'
