Liverpool's Leoni Set for Return This Month

Liverpool teenage defender Giovanni Leoni is set to return to first-team training by the end of this month, nearly a year after tearing his ACL on his debut.

The 19-year-old Italian, signed from Parma for £26m last summer, suffered the injury in his first appearance against Southampton. Despite not expected to play again this season, Leoni's comeback is seen as a significant boost to Liverpool's defensive restructuring plans.

The club is also preparing for potential departures of Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and captain Virgil van Dijk, with contracts expiring. Meanwhile, Liverpool has already secured young defenders Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Jeremy Jacquet to join in summer, plus Mor Talla Ndiaye for the under-21 setup.
