Rockies Sign Veteran Catcher Andrew Knizner to Minor League Deal

The Colorado Rockies have bolstered their catching depth by signing veteran Andrew Knizner to a minor league contract on Wednesday.

Knizner, who owns a career .596 OPS and 19 home runs over 323 games, was released by the Seattle Mariners following spring training. The 31-year-old previously played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, and San Francisco Giants. While Hunter Goodman remains the Rockies' starting catcher, Knizner provides a strong defensive backup option behind Brett Sullivan.
