Blue Jays' Valenzuela Makes MLB Debut

Blue Jays catcher Brandon Valenzuela makes his MLB debut on Easter Sunday with Alejandro Kirk sidelined by injury.

Valenzuela, a 25-year-old from Mexico, was called up from Triple-A Buffalo to join Tyler Heineman. The Blue Jays acquired him from the Padres on July 31, 2025, trading Will Wagner in exchange.

In 26 Triple-A appearances after the trade, Valenzuela hit .207 with three home runs. He shares a nationality with Kirk but is not related to Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela.
