Milwaukee Brewers reliever Jared Koenig was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left elbow sprain, an injury manager Pat Murphy called "a big concern." Koenig will try to rehab the injury and avoid surgery, with a potential return in two to four weeks. The left-hander had been an important reliever for the Brewers with a 2.67 ERA over 127 games, but he came to spring training with reduced velocity.
Shane Drohan was called up to take Koenig's spot and may make his MLB debut. The 27-year-old downplayed any significance of his debut potentially coming against the team that drafted him in 2020, saying, "It's just pitching in the big leagues that has always been the goal."
