The Pittsburgh Pirates' five-game win streak came to an end with a sloppy 5-0 loss to the San Diego Padres at PNC Park on Monday night.

The Pirates had been playing clean baseball but reverted to last season's ways, committing errors that led to multiple scoring opportunities for the Padres. Nick Castellanos broke the scoreless tie in the fourth with a double, and Jackson Merrill's double in the fifth allowed Ramón Laureano to score. The Padres added insurance runs in the sixth and eighth innings, capitalizing on Pirates' defensive miscues.
