Soler charges mound, ejected in Angels' loss to Braves

Braves slugger Jorge Soler charged the mound and traded punches with Reynaldo López after a near-head fastball, leading to both ejections in a rare MLB brawl as Atlanta defeated the Angels 7-2.

After Soler hit a two-run home run off López in the first inning, he was drilled in the wrist in his next at-bat. The confrontation escalated when a 97 mph fastball sailed by his head, prompting Soler to charge the mound. López didn't drop his glove, and the two exchanged blows until Soler was tackled by Braves players. Both were ejected.

Manager Kurt Suzuki defended Soler, noting the pattern of head-high pitches. Despite the fight, the Angels' offense was stifled, managing just five hits in the 7-2 loss. Soler is now 14-for-23 with five home runs against López, and the Angels lead the league in hit-by-pitches.
