Francis Stepping Down as Kraken President

Ron Francis will step down as president of hockey operations for the Seattle Kraken at the end of the season, the team announced Wednesday. The decision was mutually agreed upon as the Kraken continue to struggle in their fifth NHL season.

Francis, 63, was promoted from general manager last April following the firing of coach Dan Bylsma. The Kraken, currently 32-34-11 with 75 points, are tied for the fourth-fewest points in the NHL and have lost 10 of their last 11 games. This marks their third consecutive season without a playoff appearance.

"Ron and I agreed that this is the right moment to make a thoughtful transition," said co-owner Tod Leiweke. Francis expressed gratitude for helping build the franchise from its inception: "I am proud of the culture we built, the people we brought together, and the milestones we achieved."
