The legendary putter that helped Jack Nicklaus capture his record sixth Masters title in 1986 is missing from the golf great's collection. Nicklaus lent the oversized MacGregor Response ZT putter to tennis player Billy Scanlon during a tennis and golf event at his Florida home, but Scanlon never returned it.
After Scanlon's death in 2021, his widow refused to return the famous club despite attempts by Nicklaus and interest from Augusta National. The putter was reportedly put up for auction with Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay intending to purchase it, though Nicklaus said he could have retrieved it anytime from Scanlon who knew it was only loaned.
