Good morning, Broncos Country. Earlier in the week, the Denver Broncos hired Doug Belk to replace Addison Lynch as their defensive backs coach. A highly respected coach from the collegiate ranks, Belk will now be tasked with overseeing and coaching one of the NFL’s best secondaries.
Yesterday, it was reported the Broncos are expected to make another addition to their staff. According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Denver is poised to hire Ronald Curry as their next wide receiver coach. Curry was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round of the 2002 NFL Draft and played there for seven seasons.
He brings over a decade of professional coaching experience to the Mile High City. His coaching career began as an offensive assistant with the San Francisco 49ers from 2014-2015. After that, Head Coach Sean Payton lured him to the bayou where he served in the same role with the New Orleans Saints.
Over the next few seasons, he would also coach their quarterbacks and wide receivers. After Payton’s departure, he took over as their passing game coordinator from 2022-23. For the past two seasons, Curry has coached up Josh Allen and the quarterbacks on the Buffalo Bills.
Given his experience and relationship with Payton, Curry will hit the ground running knowing the Broncos’ offensive system. His job now is coach up and improve a four-deep receiving corps of Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, and Pat Bryant. He will also likely have a big role in helping decide who they end up adding to that room in the offseason.
While every player listed above flashed at some point last season, the unit as a whole could certainly be more consistent. One area for improvement? Drops. Denver’s wide receiver and tight end corps were one of the league’s worst with them in ‘25. If they can get better with that, the offense should operate much more efficiently in ‘26.
Welcome to the Mile High City, Coach Curry!
