German biathlon star Franziska Preuss has said she is trying to refocus on her final Olympic race on Saturday and overcome her latest "blackout" on the shooting range.
"I will do everything to be at the start on Saturday with a smile and simply feel the joy of biathlon again," Preuss said on Thursday in a German team statement.
Preuss has said she will retire at the end of the season, or maybe even after Saturday's mass start which is her final chance to get an individual medal after relay bronze in 2022 and mixed relay bronze at these Games.
However, the reigning World Cup champion Preuss has struggled badly in the final standing shooting which cost her possible medals in the 15km and pursuit, and also contributed to the team missing a women's relay medal on Wednesday.
She left the stadium without a word after the race before saying in the team statement: "of course yesterday was not a nice day. It is especially tough in a relay. I feel very sorry for the other three girls and for the whole team.
"The mood was accordingly not good and you just need some time to digest it."
She added in reference to her problems: "You try something new every time, build yourself up again and it still is like a blackout when you stand on that mat. That is of course not nice and it hurts."
The mass start races, the men race on Friday, offer the last chance for Germany to avoid their worst Olympic result since the women joined in 1992.
Up to now Germany has won at least two medals per game but the mixed relay bronze is so far the only one in Anterselva.
