TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Dean Smith Traveling Trophy will reside in Topeka for the next year.
The Topeka boys’ basketball team beat Emporia at home 73-69 to win the ‘Dean Smith Game.’
Emporia and Topeka play in the game annually named after legendary coach Dean Smith. He started his high school basketball career at Emporia High before moving to Topeka.
Smith is a member of both schools’ Hall of Fame.
