Every Bayern Munich fan covered their eyes in horror when Alphonso Davies collapsed to the ground and walked off the pitch with his shirt over his face. Fortunately, the club has announced that he has avoided the worst.
Bayern stated that Davies has suffered a torn muscle fiber in his right hamstring, which will sideline him for the time being. Although the club did not announce a timeframe, Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) reported shortly afterwards that the expected downtime is three weeks.
The injury certainly is unpleasant, but the fans will be immensely relieved that it is not a relapse of the ACL injury that kept Davies out for nine months. Should Bild’s report be accurate, the injury would keep Davies sidelined until around the second week of March. Bayern Munich faces Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Bayer Leverkusen in the league, while the two legs of the Champions League round of 16 will be played around the Leverkusen game. Davies could be fit for the second leg at home if all goes to plan.
