Marcus Rashford arrives in Barcelona ahead of loan transfer from Manchester United

Marcus Rashford arrived in Barcelona on Sunday ahead of completing his loan transfer from Manchester United.

According to ESPN, the 27-year-old will undergo a medical this week and could be presented as a Barca player before the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.

It is said that Rashford’s loan deal includes an option to buy for a fee around €30 million next summer.

Barcelona had been in the market for a left winger this summer. They appeared close to signing Nico Williams, but the 23-year-old ended up extending his contract with Athletic Club.

The La Liga giants also had a strong interest in Luis Diaz but Liverpool rejected their approach, insisting the Colombian is not for sale in this transfer window

However, in latest transfer news, Barcelona are now set to complete a loan move for Rashford, who has publicly expressed his desire to play for the club.

The England international has reportedly agreed to take a significant salary cut to facilitate a transfer to Catalonia.

Rashford fell out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim at the end of last year, and he was sent on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of last season.

The forward showed glimpses of his quality at Villa, making 10 goal contributions in 17 appearances.

But the Midlands outfit decided against making the move permanent due to his hefty wage demands.

Barcelona have made two additions so far this summer. They signed Joan Garcia from Espanyol, while Roony Bardghji arrived at the club from Copenhagen.

Hansi Flick’s side enjoyed an impressive 2024-25 campaign as they won the La Liga title as well as the Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana.
