F1 Engine Compression Test Vote

Formula 1's five power unit manufacturers will vote on a proposed change to engine compression ratio measurement, which could be implemented during the summer break.

The 2026 F1 power unit regulations prescribe an engine compression ratio of 16:1, reduced from 18:1 last year. Manufacturers will consider modifying how this ratio is measured, as it has traditionally been assessed at ambient temperature when the engine is not running.

The vote represents a potential technical adjustment that could impact how teams prepare their engines for the upcoming season.
