Verstappen Weighs 2026 Retirement Amid New F1 Rules

Four‑time F1 champion Max Verstappen has said he could retire at the end of 2026 if the new regulations don’t appeal to him, even as he criticises the upcoming cars.

Verstappen told reporters in Bahrain that he is considering stepping away from Formula 1 after the 2026 season if the new car regulations fail to spark his interest. The Dutch driver, who has won four world titles, said the decision would be based on how enjoyable the cars are for him.

He also voiced frustration with the 2026 F1 cars, describing them as less engaging, but clarified that criticism does not automatically mean he will quit. Verstappen remains focused on racing while weighing external priorities.
