Thompson to play in gold medal game

Canadian women's hockey defender Claire Thompson is expected to play in Thursday's Olympic gold-medal game against the U.S. despite missing practice with an upper-body injury.

Head coach Troy Ryan confirmed that Thompson has an upper-body injury but is expected to be fine for the game. "All signs point to that she'll be fine for the game," Ryan said.

Thompson has four points in six games in the tournament. Canada will face the U.S. on Thursday at 1:10 p.m. ET.
