Danika Mason Apologizes for Drinking Before Olympic Broadcast

Australian sports presenter Danika Mason has apologized after drinking alcohol before a live Winter Olympics broadcast, resulting in slurred speech and off-topic comments.

Danika Mason issued a public apology on Thursday after drinking alcohol before Channel Nine's Today show Winter Olympics broadcast. The sports presenter slurred her words throughout the segment and went off-topic, discussing iguanas instead of coffee as planned. Co-host Karl Stefanovic attempted to cover for Mason, suggesting cold weather was affecting her speech.

Mason took full responsibility for the incident, stating, 'I want to take full responsibility, it's not the standard I set myself.' She added that she shouldn't have had a drink, though suggested the weather and lack of food also contributed. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed support for Mason, saying, 'I'm pro Danika. Good on her,' and attributing the incident to time difference fatigue.
