Tennessee QB Battle: MacIntyre vs. Brandon

Tennessee's quarterback job is up for grabs after Joey Aguilar's eligibility appeal was denied, setting up a competition between George MacIntyre and Faizon Brandon.

The Vols will begin spring practice on March 16 with a three-man quarterback battle. MacIntyre, a former four-star recruit, may have a slight edge after spending a year in Josh Heupel's system. Brandon, a five-star prospect, enrolled early but needs to learn the offense. Ryan Staub, a Colorado transfer, adds experience to the mix.

Aguilar, who led the SEC with 3,565 passing yards in 2025, will now focus on the NFL after his eligibility bid was denied. Tennessee finished 8-5 and outside the Top 25 last season, creating room for improvement under new leadership.
