San Jose Earthquakes beat Sporting KC 3-0 in MLS opener

Daniel Munie scored twice and Preston Judd added another as the San Jose Earthquakes defeated Sporting Kansas City 3-0 in the season-opening MLS match on Saturday night.

Munie and Judd each scored four minutes apart just before halftime. Munie opened the scoring on a left-footed tap-in at the 42nd minute, and Judd added his header in stoppage time of the first half. Munie converted his second goal of the night from the center of the box at the 54th minute.

San Jose outshot Sporting KC 18-7 and held a 15-3 advantage in corner kicks. The victory comes as Sporting KC enters the 2026 season following a major overhaul, having finished last in the Western Conference last season.
