Horner denies Verstappen behind his Red Bull exit

Christian Horner says Max Verstappen was not responsible for his removal as Red Bull team principal in July 2024. He attributes the decision to corporate leaders Oliver Mintzlaff and Helmut Marko.

Christian Horner confirmed in the upcoming Netflix series "Drive To Survive" that Max Verstappen had no involvement in his July 2024 dismissal as Red Bull team principal. He cited decisions made by company chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff and adviser Helmut Marko, rather than the Verstappens, as the cause of his departure.

Horner, who had led the team for 20 years, noted that corporate changes after the death of co‑founder Dietrich Mateschitz and concerns over his control contributed to the move. He expressed regret over the sudden nature of the exit and the lack of a proper farewell.
