Colts Optimistic About Ward's 2026 Return

Indianapolis Colts officials are optimistic cornerback Charvarius Ward will return for the 2026 season, despite his earlier concerns about concussions.

Despite suffering three concussions during the 2025 season and expressing uncertainty about his NFL future, Colts GM Chris Ballard and coach Shane Steichen indicate Ward is in a good frame of mind and wants to play in 2026.

Ward had previously stated he might retire if he suffers another concussion, saying, 'The more I beat my brain up, the more it'll affect me as I get older.' In seven games during the 2025 season, Ward allowed a 57% completion rate on 37 targets with seven pass breakups.
