Arsenal Have Set Their Sights On This Serie A Keeper: Should Arteta Get Him On Board?

In a recent report, Corriere dello Sport mentioned that Arsenal have set their sights on Atalanta keeper Marco Carnesecchi this summer. It has been claimed that the Gunners will have to compete with Manchester United in the race to land the Italian goalie next summer.

Carnesecchi’s Impressive Form In Italian Football

Carnesecchi has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Italian club as he has produced a series of impressive displays for them when defending inside his half. The Italian keeper has featured in 35 matches for Atalanta this season, conceding 33 goals and securing 14 clean sheets in the process on all fronts.

The 25-year-old is currently among the best goalkeepers in Serie A. Hence, it is no wonder that the Gunners are hoping to get a deal done for him this summer.

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Arsenal to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Get Carnesecchi On Board?

Carnesecchi can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball as well and can use his quick reflexes to make a few crucial saves at the back for his team.

Standing at 1.91m, the Italian custodian can use his strong frame to dominate his penalty area when coming out to collect crosses and loose balls. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Gunners manage to snap him up this summer.

We can expect Carnesecchi to add more quality to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s backline. He is good enough to compete with David Raya for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.

At 25, Carnesecchi has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Gunners to pursue this summer. He will also help the Londoners compete across all competitions in the future. All in all, Arteta would be wise to go all out to snap the Italian custodian up at the end of this campaign.
