Giancarlo Stanton’s elbow injuries remain a major problem for the New York Yankees slugger.
After starting last season on the injured list with elbow problems, the 36-year-old appears to be trending towards the same start to his 2026 campaign.
Speaking to NJ.com Thursday, Stanton used a telling analogy for where he’s at healthwise.
“I can’t open a bottle,” Stanton told Randy Miller. “I can’t open a bag of chips … a bag of anything. That’s the way it is.”
Through six Yankees Grapefruit League games played to start the spring, Stanton has yet to make his debut.
He hit .273/.350/.594 with 24 home runs and 66 RBI in 77 games played last season.
Sitting on 453 career home runs, Stanton is only 47 home runs away from joining the illustrious 500-home-run club.
The Yankees begin their regular season on March 25 on the road against the San Francisco Giants.
