RG3 calls Rams the perfect trade fit for QB Anthony Richardson

Anthony Richardson is the latest quarterback to hit the trade market after the Indianapolis Colts gave him permission to seek a trade on Thursday. It’s hardly a surprising development after Daniel Jones emerged as the clear-cut starter in Indianapolis, putting himself in line for an extension this offseason.

Richardson, the fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft, has played just 17 games and made 15 starts in his career thus far, dealing with injuries left and right. He’s now looking for a fresh start elsewhere and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III believes the Rams would be an ideal fit for Richardson.

He says Richardson needs a “reset yet” like Sam Darnold, which propelled him to standout seasons with the Vikings and Seahawks.

When Richardson was drafted, his lack of starting experience was a major concern. He played just 24 games in college and attempted only 393 passes at Florida, bursting onto the scene as a playmaker in 2022 before being picked by the Colts.

In his college and pro career, he's attempted a total of just 743 passes. For comparison, Matthew Stafford attempted 716 passes this season alone, including the playoffs.

Richardson could be a viable successor to Stafford after the MVP retires, but it's unclear whether the Rams would be willing to give up draft capital to acquire him from Indianapolis.
