Speaking to DAZN, Calhanoglu was candid about the emotional challenge of his injury layoff.
“It is not easy to manage, you always want to come back and then another injury arrives,” he said.
“I am happy to be back. This goal gives me enthusiasm. I am trying to find my rhythm again and I am happy for the victory.”
On Sky, Calhanoglu gave a lighthearted account of the penalty decision.
“I asked Zielinski if he wanted to take it, but he left it to me,” he smiled.
“I am happy to gradually get back into the rhythm.”
Both interviewers raised the subject of the upcoming derby, but Calhanoglu kept his focus firmly on his own recovery rather than making any bold predictions.
“I want to try to come back well, then for the rest, we will see,” he told DAZN.
On Sky he added simply:
“We only look at ourselves. Winning is always important for giving positivity to the group. We want to continue like this.”
