Several teams trying to trade for Pittsburgh Steelers offensive star

The Pittsburgh Steelers have gone through a lot of turnover on offense over the last handful of seasons. Since 2021, they’ve had a different Week 1 starting quarterback in each season, and their No. 1 wide receiver has been a different name in each of the last three seasons.

One player who has remained a rare constant on offense has been tight end Pat Freiermuth. Pittsburgh signed him to a four-year extension back in 2024, and he went on to have a terrific year, setting career highs in catches and touchdowns. However, 2025 was a different story. Freiermuth caught just 41 passes compared to the 65 he caught in 2024. This has led to trade speculation around No. 88, and there are certainly plenty of suitors who would like to add him to their roster.

Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports that there are at least half a dozen teams that have interest in trading for the Penn State alum, but the Steelers don’t have interest in moving him.

“At least six teams would be interested in exploring the idea of acquiring tight end Pat Freiermuth, according to a league source,” DeFabo writes. “However, at least right now, teams are being told he’s not available.”

With yet another new offensive playbook entering the fray with new head coach Mike McCarthy, Freiermuth could get back to being the safety blanket and difference-maker for the Steelers he has proven to be, dating back to his rookie season when he caught seven touchdowns from Ben Roethlisberger.
