There are certain phrases in football that never truly disappear. For Barcelona, one of them is back at the perfect time.
“1% chance, 99% faith.”
That slogan once defined one of the greatest nights in the club’s history, since it became famous before the unforgettable 6-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.
Back then, a Nike campaign helped spread the message of belief after the heavy 0-4 defeat in Paris.
The image of Neymar pointing to the slogan became iconic. It was more than marketing. It became a mindset.
Now, almost a decade later, that same spirit has returned inside the Blaugrana dressing room.
The current squad want to channel that same belief as they aim to pull off another turnaround and reach the Copa del Rey final.
Raphinha’s message
Raphinha was one of the first to bring the message back. On social media, he shared the slogan and added a short line in Catalan: “Comptem amb tu”.
Raphinha’s “we’re counting on you” is a reminder that nights like these are not won by players alone. The supporters must become the 12th player.
Soon after, Lamine Yamal Nasraoui followed suit. The teenager posted the same belief in Catalan: “1% de possibilitats, 99% de fe” (1% chance, 99% faith).
Within the Barcelona dressing room, the players know history is against them. But they also know what this club has done before.
A familiar setting
In 2017, Neymar himself had said, “As long as there’s a 1% chance, I’ll have 99% faith.” He said it the day after the 4-0 loss in Paris, and the rest is history.
Sergi Roberto’s goal sealed the 6-1 win, and it remains one of the most dramatic comebacks ever seen in European football.
There may be no Neymar, Lionel Messi, or Luis Suarez now. But Raphinha, Yamal, Pedri, Ferran and the rest believe something special can happen again.
