We’re a week away from the “legal tampering” part of NFL free agency, and the Seattle Seahawks have a few prominent names who could soon be on other teams, including Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. After a strong close to his rookie contract, Walker figures to command a pretty penny on the open market, and there will be no shortage of suitors.
SNYtv’s Connor Hughes, who covers both the New York Jets and Giants, reported on Monday that Walker is expected to be a free agent target for the Giants under new head coach John Harbaugh.
Whether they land a player such as Seattle’s Kenneth Walker or Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love remains to be seen, but expect a strong push for established free agent options, including Walker and others. Love is among the prospects they are expected to discuss deeper into the draft process.
Beyond running back, the Giants spent considerable time in Indianapolis evaluating interior offensive linemen and tight ends. Those positions are expected to be priorities in free agency.
NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry was at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, which is like the ultimate rumor mill for a week. He echoed what Hughes had to say regarding the Giants and K9, plus he had some tidbits on the expectations within the Seahawks organization.
13. I put out a bunch of social videos from the NFL Combine last week and one of them focused on running backs. And perhaps the most surprising RB rumor I heard was Ken Walker… to the Giants. Doesn’t mean he is definitely going there but the Giants are very interested in him.
14. Speaking of Walker, I was told Seattle is expecting to lose him. They love him but given other team needs they aren’t willing to pay top dollar for him. As it was told to me, the Seahawks attitude is, basically, “Hey, Ken, go out there and test the market. If someone is willing to pay $12 or $13 million, good for you. Get paid. But if your market is around $10 million then come back and talk to us.”
The Giants have three running backs of note on their depth chart: Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr, and Devin Singletary. It looks pretty obvious that Singletary won’t be retained on the final year of his contract, Tracy has had some bright spots but some costly fumbles plus a shoulder injury in 2025, and Skattebo is the new fan favorite recovering from an awful ankle dislocation last October.
Whether it’s the Giants or some other team, it seems like there’s more than enough buzz around that Walker will have a healthy FA market and that unless his offer is to the Seahawks’ liking, he will become just the fourth reigning Super Bowl MVP to immediately walk as a free agent.
