New Rule: Injured Players Must Wait 1 Minute

Football's governing body IFAB will implement a new rule requiring players who receive treatment on the field to wait one minute on the sideline before returning to play, aiming to combat time-wasting.

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) will approve the new regulation during its annual general assembly this Saturday. Currently, no specific rule exists in football's rulebook regarding how long treated players must remain off the field, leading to inconsistent application across leagues.

The Premier League has enforced a 30-second rule since the 2023/24 season, while many in football have long called for measures to prevent players from feigning injuries to waste time.
