"India" Dropped From Cricket Council Name

The Union sports ministry has directed the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India to remove "India" or "Indian" from its name and activities, citing lack of National Sports Federation recognition.

The Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) has been ordered to stop using the terms "India" or "Indian" in its name and activities, following a directive from the Union sports ministry. The ministry stated that only government-recognized federations are permitted to use these terms.

Similar notices were sent to other sports bodies including the Women's Football Federation of India and the Indian Body Builders' Federation. DCCI secretary Ravi Kant Chauhan confirmed receiving the letter and requested NSF status, noting that the body has organized international tournaments despite lacking official recognition.
