Iran's World Cup Participation Uncertain Amid Conflict

Iran's participation in the upcoming World Cup is in question following recent US-Iran conflicts, with the head of Iran's football federation expressing doubt about their attendance.

The United States and Iran are both qualified for the World Cup starting in three months, but recent attacks between the countries have raised concerns about Iran's participation. Iran's football federation head Mehdi Taj reportedly told Iranian television that with the recent attack by the United States, it is unlikely they can look forward to the World Cup.

FIFA is monitoring developments but currently expects Iran to participate, with general secretary Mattias Grafstrom stating their focus is to have a safe World Cup with everybody participating. If Iran were to boycott, Iraq or UAE would be potential replacements from the Asian Football Confederation.
