Lions' David Montgomery denies report he wants out of Detroit

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is refuting an ESPN report suggesting he wants to be traded or released by the team.

David Montgomery took to social media to deny claims made by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that he "wants out" of Detroit. Montgomery, responding to a tweet aggregating the report, posted, "Damn, Dmo told you that?" Rumors suggested the Lions might seek a Day 3 draft pick for the veteran back.

Despite the rumors, General Manager Brad Holmes expressed a desire for Montgomery to return, stating, "We love David. He’s a great player. We’d love to have him." New Offensive Coordinator Drew Petzing also praised Montgomery, hinting at a shared backfield role with rookie Jahmyr Gibbs moving forward.
