Cooper Witten commits to Oklahoma following father Jason

Four-star linebacker Cooper Witten announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners on Tuesday, choosing the program over SEC rivals Georgia, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. Witten, ranked the No. 2 linebacker in the 2027 class, joins an Oklahoma class currently ranked second nationally.

Witten is the son of Dallas Cowboys legend and new Oklahoma tight ends coach Jason Witten. While the connection played a role, Witten emphasized that finding the best fit was his priority over his father's coaching influence.

The commitment boosts Oklahoma's recruiting standing, solidifying a top-five class led by defensive coordinator Brent Venables. Witten previously played for his father at Liberty Christian School, winning back-to-back state titles.
