F1 Kayo Deal Extension Angers Aussie Fans

Formula 1's extended broadcasting agreement with Kayo Sports has drawn significant backlash from Australian fans who express frustration over pricing and limited options.

The extension of F1's broadcasting deal with Kayo Sports into 2027 and beyond has disappointed Australian racing enthusiasts. Many fans have taken to social media to voice their displeasure, with some expressing a desire for Apple TV to secure the rights, similar to what happened in the United States. Others criticized Kayo's pricing structure, with basic plans starting at $29.99 monthly and premium options at $45.99, calling the costs "prohibitively expensive" and "exorbitant."

Notably, the Australian Grand Prix will continue to be shown for free by Network 10, providing some relief for fans. Kayo Sports recently added an F1TV commentary option after viewers accused the main Sky Sports UK feed of bias toward British driver Lando Norris over teammate Oscar Piastri. The Sky commentary duo of David Croft and Martin Brundle have defended their coverage, with Brundle describing Piastri's 2025 season as "partly painful, partly brilliant."
