Cox Leads Purdue Past Northwestern After Slow Start

Second-half surge from C.J. Cox helped Purdue men's basketball avoid a third straight loss, defeating Northwestern 70-66 at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Cox scored 27 points total, with 21 coming in the second half, including crucial corner 3-pointers that helped the Boilermakers rally in the final minutes. Purdue had to overcome a slow start and avoid extending their winless streak, with Cox's fade-away 3 giving them a 60-57 lead with three minutes remaining.

Trey Kaufman-Renn contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds despite a shoulder injury that caused him to miss some second-half possessions. Purdue committed turnovers that hurt them in the first half, with nearly a third of Northwestern's first-half points coming off those mistakes.
