Warrenton 8th Graders Capture State Basketball Title

The Warrenton 8th grade girls basketball squad clinched the state title on March 1, beating Madras/Warm Springs 60-52 in the championship game.

The Warrenton 8th grade girls basketball team won the middle school state tournament in Salem, defeating Madras/Warm Springs 60-52 in the final. Over the weekend they posted five wins and one loss, including victories over Yamhill-Carlton (52-40) and Crescent Valley (45-17) before falling to Madras 66-54 on Saturday.

The squad, composed of six eighth‑graders and four seventh‑graders, has had six players together for five years and rallied from a nine‑point halftime deficit to secure the championship.
